Zoning Ordinance Overhaul Moves to Public Hearing Phase
After months of work sessions, the comprehensive rewrite of Radford's zoning ordinance will enter the public hearing phase, including new standards for data centers and industrial buffers.
The Radford City Council unanimously approved advancing the proposed zoning ordinance rewrite to the public hearing phase. The overhaul represents the most significant update to the city's zoning regulations in decades.
Key changes include new provisions for data center development, updated industrial buffer requirements, mixed-use zoning districts for the downtown corridor, and revised residential density standards.
The Planning Commission and consulting firm Renaissance Planning Group have spent over a year developing the new ordinance. Public hearings are expected to begin in May 2026.
