Suspect in double killing at church charged for unrelated offenses

Roanoke Police identify suspect in Feb. 8 double shooting at Refreshing Church; two men killed, suspect held without bail on unrelated charges.
Roanoke Police report they have identified the suspect in February's shooting that left two men dead in a church parking lot, and arrested him on unrelated charges. Since the man has not yet been formally charged, police say they will not release his name yet. The suspect is being held without bail while investigators work with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office to present the homicide case at an upcoming grand jury for charges. Police were called the morning of February 8, 2026, to Refreshing Church on Carroll Avenue NW, where two men had been found inside a car with bullet wounds. Police say 37-year-old Jeffrie Lamont Meadows of Wytheville and 35-year-old Khireem Jerome Porter of Radford, were declared dead at the scene.
