Radford University turns to RF Venue for flawless audio

A wireless RF audio system let production crews deliver clean, cable-free sound at two Radford University fundraising events, improving safety and accessibility for guests.

Radford University turned to a wireless audio solution to deliver clean, professional sound at two major fundraising events — an informal luncheon and a formal black-tie gala — without running cables across the floor.

Christiansburg-based Midway Production Services deployed the RF Venue RF PA Extension Kit, paired with Diversity Fin antennas and DISTRO series distribution systems, to overcome the venue’s layout challenges. Traditional floor-run cabling would have disrupted high-traffic areas, and overhead cable drops were not feasible given the ceiling construction.

The wireless link eliminated trip hazards from cable ramps and tape, improving accessibility for guests using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. For the luncheon, the kit fed a delay system of two Turbosound iP300 loudspeakers; for the evening gala, it connected a main array of Electro-Voice Evolve 50 loudspeakers.

Production staff reported the receiver’s built-in delay timing let them time-align speakers within minutes, and the wireless link held signal integrity throughout both events with no reported issues. Following the success at Radford, Midway Production Services has since used the system on more than 20 additional productions.
