In June 2026, Radford University celebrated the graduation of six high school students from an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) pilot program — the first cohort to complete the initiative.
The program represents a new pipeline between local high schools and the university's emergency services curriculum, giving students hands-on clinical training and a head start toward Virginia state EMT certification.
Radford University's Emergency Services program, based at Radford University Carilion in Roanoke, boasts a 100% positive placement rate and 100% national certification rate for its paramedic graduates. The pilot program extends that expertise to younger students exploring careers in healthcare and emergency services.
