Radford City Schools reports stop-arm cameras have captured 44 violations since January, with hotspots on Rock Road and Main Street. Videos sent to Radford Police.
Radford City Schools leaders said safety is the number one priority at all schools and the roads. The cameras are on and active while school bus drivers are on the road and are specifically looking for people who illegally drive past the bus while the stop-arm is out and the lights are flashing. Since January, they have captured 44 videos of people running through the bus stops. Common problem areas are on Rock Road and Main Street. Once the videos are captured, they are sent to Radford Police who handle the penalties. RCPS Director of Operations Michael Grim said they plan to keep the cameras for school years to come.
