Radford Watch StaffApril 15, 2026

Radford City Council voted 4-1 to approve a budget amendment allocating $3.2 million for Commerce Park infrastructure, a key step in the city's economic development strategy.

In a pivotal vote on April 14, 2026, the Radford City Council approved a $3.2 million budget amendment to fund infrastructure improvements at the West Radford Commerce Park.

The vote passed 4-1, with Council Member Jessie Foster dissenting, citing concerns about the impact on the general fund during a period of structural financial imbalance.

Mayor David Horton praised the decision, calling it "a necessary investment in Radford's economic future." The funding will cover site grading, utility extensions, and road access improvements needed to make the industrial site shovel-ready.

The Commerce Park has been identified as a priority project to generate revenue and address the city's budget deficit through attracting new business and industry to the region.
